Back to the Fifties Weekend

The ECTO-1D is once again invading the Minnesota State Fairgrounds for the 43rd annual Back to the Fifties Weekend. One of the largest classic car shows in the country, Back to the Fifties fills the Minnesota State Fair with over 12,000 cars from 1964 & earlier.

Each year, the collection of eclectic cars grows to include classic cruisers, rat rods, project vehicles, custom hot rods, trucks, wagons, racers...you name it! There are even a couple of movie cars in the mix, keeping the ECTO-1D in good company. They just have to make the '64 age cutoff, so you won't see and Fast & Furious cars there. We've seen Stephen King's Christine, the Munster's Coach (from The Munsters TV show & the car that inspired the Rob Zombie song Dragula), Herbie the Love Bug, & even Mater & Doc Hudson from Disney/Pixar's Cars films.

Walk the grounds & check out beautiful works of rolling art, or bring a camp chair & pick your spot for a neverending parade of automotive masterpieces cruising the streets. Plus there are tons of other events like live music, a swap meet (Sunday), classic car auction, a blood drive, the Cruise-N-Art craft fair & more. John Schnieder, best known for his role as Bo Duke from TV's Dukes of Hazzard, will also be there in person to greet fans & sign autographs.

From fathomevents.com -

"Thirty-two years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, Fathom Events and Columbia Pictures invite you to celebrate the upcoming July release of Ghostbusters (2016) with the original misfit parapsychologists of Ghostbusters (1984) as the classic film returns to select cinemas nationwidefor a special two-day event on Wednesday, June 8 and Sunday, June 12. Who you gonna call?

This 80’s comedy classic, written by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, produced and directed by Ivan Reitman tells the story of university parapsychologists Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Dr. Raymond Stanz (Dan Aykroyd) and Dr. Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) who lose a research grant when their experiment methodology is proven to be bogus. The team decides to go into business for themselves and open ‘Ghostbusters,’ a ghost removal service. After their first successful “ghost bust,” the demand for their services increases, along with paranormal activity in New York City, and the team hires a fourth member Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson), rounding out the official Ghostbusters. The team is summoned to investigate the strange happenings in Dana Barrett’s (Sigourney Weaver) Central Park West apartment. What they discover is that all Manhattan is being besieged by ghosts and other worldly demons through a portal in her building. On their mission to save New York City, the Ghostbusters encounter Slimer, Zuul, Gozer, the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man and many more other-worldly spirits.

Along with the presentation of the original Ghostbusters, this event will feature special sneak-peek footage from director Paul Feig’s highly anticipated new film Ghostbusters, in theaters July 15, 2016!

To get excited for the release of the new movie, jump back in time to 1984 and watch these icons of comedy become jumpsuit-wearing, proton pack-carrying action heroes on the big screen."
